Epistemic Uncertainty Treatment Using Group Method of Data Handling Algorithm in Seismic Collapse Fragility

Abstract Developing fragility functions is the essential step in incorporating important uncertainties next-generation performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE) methodology. The present paper aimed to involve record-to-record variability as well modelling uncertainty sources developing curves at collapse limit state. In this article, order reduce dispersion of uncertainties, Group Method Data Handling (GMDH) combination with Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) used develop structural curve, considering effects epistemic and aleatory uncertainties. A Steel Moment Resisting Frame (SMRF) chosen tested structure. obtained by proposed method which belongs GMDH approaches are compared those resulted from simple well-known available methods such First-Order Second-Moment (FOSM), Approximate Second-Order (ASOSM) (MC)/Response Surface (RSM), somehow, an accurate method. results application approach indicate increasing accuracy precision outputs power same computational time aforementioned methods. introduced here can be applied other performance levels.
